Update Dec. 3, 2015:

Port of Tacoma Road will not close at Washington United Terminals this weekend. The road construction work that had been planned for Friday evening to early Monday morning has been canceled due to weather.

A message from Washington United Terminals on Dec. 1, 2015:

The below message is intended as information for all employees, truckers, dispatchers, delivery personnel or anyone conducting business at WUT.

Please feel free to share the below, keeping in mind that at this time it is information only.  A final notice will be sent on Thursday if weather permits the concrete work.

As of this morning the city is planning to replace the asphalt in front of WUT this coming weekend (weather permitting).  Port of Tacoma Road will be closed from Lincoln to Maxwell from Friday, Dec. 4 at approximately 4 p.m. until Monday, Dec. 7 at approximately 6 a.m.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. we will close the back WUT gate off of Thorne for trucks entering the staging lanes.  Trucks entering WUT after 3:30 will need to use the Bobtail lane off of Port of Tacoma Road until 4:30 when the gate closes.  Trucks already in the queue will be allowed across.  Please plan to have your transactions completed early in the day to help reduce the amount of congestion both into and out of WUT as everyone leaving the facility will have to exit to the North (right turn out of WUT).

POV’s and delivery trucks will continue to enter security via Port of Tacoma Road until all trucks have cleared the bobtail lane so that individuals are not delayed in getting to work.

The Thorne back gate will open as usual for staging on Monday morning and at that time trucks will not be able to use the bobtail lane. The use of the bobtail is for Friday only between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Any trucks using the bobtail on Monday will be directed back to the staging area.

This is a preliminary notice and final notice will be sent on Thursday once the forecast is confirmed. As of now, rain is in the forecast and if it happens it will push the closure to the weekend of Dec. 12.
