The Northwest Seaport Alliance Recognized as 2026 G75 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics
The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has been named a 2026 G75 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics, marking the NWSA’s 10th consecutive year receiving this prestigious recognition.
The annual Green 75 awards honor 75 organizations that demonstrate outstanding leadership in sustainable supply chain and logistics practices. Selected by Inbound Logistics editors, the G75 list recognizes companies that go above and beyond in advancing environmental stewardship, implementing sustainable operations, and committing to continuous improvement in reducing environmental impact.
As a 2026 honoree, the NWSA is featured in the June Sustainability edition of Inbound Logistics as part of its special G75 section, which aims to help guide shippers seeking environmentally responsible supply chain partners.
“Earning a place on the G75 list for the 10th consecutive year speaks to the depth and consistency of our commitment to sustainability,” said Ryan Calkins, NWSA Co-Chair and Port of Seattle Commission President. “We’re proud of the meaningful progress we’ve made alongside our partners and remain focused on working with our customers, tenants and stakeholders to accelerate cleaner operations and advance more sustainable supply chain solutions.”
With a goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050, the NWSA continues to be a leader in the logistics industry through ambitious climate and clean air initiatives. Since 2005, the NWSA has reduced diesel particulate matter emissions by more than 90% through targeted programs focused on cleaner fuels, equipment modernization and operational efficiencies.
The NWSA is advancing a comprehensive set of strategies to decarbonize port operations and the broader supply chain. Shore power infrastructure, which allows vessels to shut down engines while at berth, is currently available at two international container terminals, with design work underway and plans to install shore power at all major terminals by 2030. This transition will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality for nearby communities.
“The NWSA is making strategic investments in the infrastructure and technologies needed to decarbonize the maritime supply chain,” said Dick Marzano, NWSA Co-Chair and Port of Tacoma Commission President. “From shore power expansion to zero-emission cargo handling equipment and truck infrastructure, we are building a cleaner, more sustainable gateway for our customers and near-port communities.”
Additional initiatives include the deployment of battery-electric cargo handling equipment, such as yard tractors and a heavy-lift forklift, as well as support for the region’s first zero-emission truck charging hub. Zero-emission drayage trucks are expected to begin operating in the gateway in early 2027.
The G75 recognition underscores The Northwest Seaport Alliance’s leadership in advancing sustainable maritime operations while supporting economic growth and global trade.
