Last month marked a welcome addition to the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) gateway with the completion of Floor & Decor’s first distribution center in the Pacific Northwest. This 1.1 million square foot facility will serve as a key hub for imports coming to the West Coast, a significant addition to our robust supply chain ecosystem, bringing in jobs and economic development to the state and the region.

Beginning operations July 15th, the distribution center is located in Frederickson and is their first distribution facility in Washington state.

“We are always excited when partners recognize something we know deeply, Washington is a fantastic state to do business” said Hamdi Mohammed, NWSA Managing Member and Port of Seattle Commissioner. “Our gateway has a robust supply chain ecosystem, significant connections to inland markets and across the West Coast, and most importantly an excellent and skilled workforce.”

Floor & Decor is a leading specialty retailer of hard surface flooring, offering a broad in-stock assortment of laminate and vinyl, tile, wood, and natural stone flooring and installation materials and decorative accessories, as well as adjacent categories, from around the world. Floor & Decor sources materials directly from manufacturers or quarries worldwide and has over 255 retail stores across the U.S.

“The NWSA is excited to welcome this new facility and investment from Floor & Decor to our region” said John McCarthy, Co-Chair of the NWSA and Port of Tacoma Commission President “One of our main directives as a port is jobs, and these investments support job growth and economic development, bolstering our key mission.”

The NWSA gateway hosts a substantial ecosystem of supply chain infrastructure and services. New investments and cargo through the gateway continue to build this system, creating new business opportunities for our ports and Washington state.
