The Northwest Seaport Alliance (Seattle + Tacoma) Weekly Volumes & Metrics Report 7/21/25
Overview
This week we have both the weekly numbers for the week ending July 11 and the June monthly numbers which were released late last week.
Last year for June and July also saw abnormally high cargo volumes, at that time we saw cargo diverted from Canada due to rail disruptions there. Any year over year comparisons, high or low, are competing with those inflated metrics.
Week over week saw one increase, one decrease and one metric with mixed results. International imports jumped 62.7% from the week before, largely due to the no blanks and the two vessels that were delayed from the week before being counted. Imports were also up 7.9% compared to the July 2024 weekly average and 17.6% compared to the weekly average to date.
Trucking transactions were down slightly from the week before, 4%, and down 12.4% compared to the July 2024 weekly average. This drop is likely because of the slower volumes the week before, as truck transactions usually lag a few days after vessel arrivals.
Vessel lifts were up 10.4% from the week before but were down 14% compared the July 2024 weekly average. The YoY drop is likely due to lower exports and empties.
You can find last week’s report here. You can find the full vessel schedule, including the 4 week look ahead and breakdown by harbor, here.

Market Intel
Monthly numbers for June were released last week. June saw volume drops compared to the year before across the board: 27.3% for full imports, 8.4% for exports, 14.7% in total container volume. Volumes were up 9.4% compared to the month before, which included the vessel arrivals from where tariffs were at their highest to date. Though June steadily increased from that May dip, volumes still did not recover compared to the year before.
